Join me on Notes -- my open notebook of interesting things I'm seeing on the road
Tag along with me on my travels -- across the country and maybe just down the block -- with quick updates as well as roadside-nostalgia "breaking news" in between my longer newsletters.
So I’ve started posting to Substack Notes, and would love for you to join me there!
I went for a bike ride in NYC yesterday to check in on some spots of “note,” and have updates from the Papaya King, Neil’s Coffee Shop and the Subway Inn. And this cute “Smiling Bear” below. (I am obsessed with those signs, and have been since I was a toddler, when I called one (sadly long vanished) near White Plains, NY “El Oso” — “The Bear” in Spanish. I still look for it when driving on Central Avenue!)
My newsletters tend to be very in-depth and require a lot of work, research and thought. Notes, on the other hand, will be where I share quick dispatches from the road, things that you will probably see in future newsletters or guides I put together. I’ll also start using Notes to “break” news, so when I learn of a big development that might be of interest to aficionados of roadside Americana, I’ll get it out here first, and leave the deeper dive for the newsletter.
As Substack explains, “Notes is a new space on Substack for us to share links, short posts, quotes, photos, and more.” In other words, when I have something I really want to share with you, I’ll probably send it here first.
How to join
Head to substack.com/notes or find the “Notes” tab in the Substack app. As a subscriber to The Retrologist by Rolando Pujol, you’ll automatically see my notes. Feel free to like, reply, or share them around!
You can also share notes of your own. I hope this becomes a space where every reader of The Retrologist by Rolando Pujol can share thoughts, ideas, and interesting quotes from the things we're reading on Substack and beyond.
If you encounter any issues, you can always refer to the Notes FAQ for assistance. Looking forward to seeing you there!
