Now if McD's would bring back Mac Tonight. Just like Birdie the Early Bird was the "breakfast" mascot, Mac Tonight was the "supper" mascot. Of course, Mac Tonight was never part of McDonaldland.

Exactly. When he was introduced in 1987, at least in the NYC market, I was a little too old to be terrified of him, but I was certainly creeped out. He did grow on me. I last spotted him "in the wild" in a drive-thru sign in California back in 2011.

McDonald’s has a treasure chests of memes and viral moments at their ready with Mac Tonight. I was not alive during Mac Tonights reign, but his creepiness from the clips I’ve seen seem prime for crazy “Grimace-like” TikToks.

I love that they’re doing this – however, it is confusing that they embrace a red mansard roof McDonald’s in the advertising, yet they are actively tearing them all down 🤷🏻‍♂️

It is interesting, the marketing side versus the architectural. I would not be shocked if, some time down the road, we see new mansards being built, or even one, like the singular and long gone McDonald’s Solid Gold store, that offers the full 1970s-1990s McDonald’s experience.

Kinda like a Pizza-Hut Classic. Just select locations 🤷‍♂️

Probably where they don't have killjoy architectural restrictions.

Yuuup, which seems to be everywhere these days. It's funny that killjoy restrictions led McDonald's to the mansard design initially, in 1968. The snooty board types hated the "garish" red-and-white buildings of the 1950s and early to mid 1960s.

Yeah, that makes sense to me!

Love it. But wish the actual meal included something tangible. My kids will be harassing me for happy meals due to the TMNT x Hello Kitty collab

I hear that! The meals, however, will come with tins so there will def be a prize for kids of all ages! :)

Every McDonaldland Meal comes with one of six exclusive collectible tins featuring postcards, stickers and more, each inspired by the different characters. Get your hands on the full collection, because no trip is complete without a souvenir!

Obsessed. My family has old plastic McDonald's plates from the 2000, which feels very reminiscent of this era.

Oh that's cool! Definitely the tail end of the McDonaldland character era, making them pretty special!

I was worried that they were going to keep Captain Crook and Officer Big Mac off the list until I saw the big picture that covers them all.

Rolando Pujol's avatar

Yup, they made the cut!! The gang's all here!
