The mission-style buildings doing business as Taco Bells are now down to 7. (I have a list.) Many former locations survive, a feast for Americana archaeologists.
The Taco Bell of my 70's youth was long ago converted to a variety of Mexican resturants over the years but still exist to serve tacos here in Omaha :)
Yes! I live right by it, so I pass it every day. This guy used to have commercials on a lot of the local channels in the 80s/90s/00s, especially late at night and on weekends advertising an 800 number to listen to his "Bankruptcy Info Tapes", so much so that he became a local celebrity, but not in a positive way, more like a "look at this weird, expressionless guy on my TV" kind of way. These vintage buildings were beautiful and had character. Now everything is a prefab box.
Well said!

Love it!
My favorite use of an old Taco Bell: a bankruptcy lawyer's office in Chicago: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.9576916,-87.7475162,3a,75y,268.97h,90.11t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1s0l7AgfHppmtnwGIpF6Jesw!2e0!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fcb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26pitch%3D-0.11417482018453029%26panoid%3D0l7AgfHppmtnwGIpF6Jesw%26yaw%3D268.9733995269647!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDQwNi4wIKXMDSoJLDEwMjExNDUzSAFQAw%3D%3D
