I have never been to this location, only the one in Santa Nella. So many childhood memories, and some adult ones too as I introduced my husband to the place on our first road trip together. I hear that location remains open, and I'll be sure to visit on my next drive from SF to LA! My own kids have never been. It has much of the same nostalgic charm, but I fear it could be in danger after this news.

I too am very worried. I would imagine, if the new owner gets it, that every effort will be made to keep the charm intact. And yes, Santa Nella is still in business! I restored a line to that effect toward the bottom of the piece. I hope to visit there soon.

What a shame! I've only been to the one in Santa Nella, and I was hoping to go to Buellton. You must visit Santa Nella! And while you're at it, head over to Hollister and the Casa de Fruta complex.

I still have a set of bowls from there that I eat all my soup from.

Hap-Pea and Pea-Wee forever!

I’ve only been to the Santa Nella location. Had the travelers bowl of soup special a few times. It’s sad that places like this go and are gone forever for something “new and exciting” which is never the case. My favorite local spot was Harry’s Hofbrau in San Jose. Just a big cafeteria with good old fashioned food with plenty of seating. It’s gone. Stack n Pack likely. There is literally nothing like it in the general area. Yes there are two other locations. And each has its charm but that SJ location will never be anything else at all to ever take its place.
