Pour one out for the Somerset McD's, which survived being McBoxed for many years more than its contemporaries. That was my McD's growing up. I ate many a extra value meal in this location. It has now moved across Easton Ave to the former Burger King (itself having mostly survived modernization efforts) and is a boring McBox now.
The best McShake is the Arctic Orange shake. This LTO shake I think was made from the old McDonald's orangeade syrup. I still see it periodically; maybe they're using Hi-C syrup now.
hey there friend! Thanks for all the cool updates. As a heads up I just pre-ordered your book at our local cool bookstore Reads in PXV PA and they already had it on order :-) / Remind your readers that they can pre-order and buy at small indie stores, not just the big box book stores!
Yeah! Thank you so much for the preorder, my friend, and what great news your local shop already had it on order! And yes, I will definitely be giving small shops lots of love, and hopefully, I'll be lucky to do events at a number of them! (Need to visit Reads!)
It looks like the Bojangles in New Jersey will have the full menu. Apparently, Bojangles is opening several locations that don't sell bone-in chicken, to compete primarily in the all-day-breakfast and chicken tenders and sandwiches (CFA, Zaxby's, Raising Cane's, etc.) markets.
The mini steak fries at Bojangles are some of the best QSR fries out there. As long as they're fresh, of course.
Lent means the forthcoming arrival of Bojangles' LTO BojAngler fish sandwich, which is good.
I stopped at the Ohio Valley Mall after Christmas to see the Sam Goody, which was a shadow of its former self I’m sure. The only music for sale was a small display of K-Pop groups, and the other merchandise was tacky to the point of me wondering why I bothered. I guess I was hoping for something that would resemble nostalgia.
As a "Mahoney" I loved reading, “It takes a guy with a name like Rosen to think up an Irish drink" LOL! Also so interesting they used lime at one point?! Did I read that correctly? I guess growing up, I assumed it was at every single McDonalds so it's interesting it didn't become national until 2012. Cant wait to take my 3 boys to experience their first Shamrock Shake soon :) Thanks for another great, nostalgic article! Love reading these.
Great stuff! Do you know if there’s any in SoCal with green roofs?
I don't believe so! Though there are a few decent mansards around in SoCal ... happy to share locations with you if interested.

So sad!! :(
What Stephanie Stuckey is doing with Stuckey's is the Lord's work.
Preach! She is amazing!

Wow, when you spot it next, let me know! I'd travel for that!

Good tips and info! I somehow have never stopped at a Bojangles or shot some of the older orange stores. Must get on that!
